Stainless steel (stainless steel) – alloyed steel with chromium, resistant to a number of aggressive environments. It is used both for the manufacture of household items – kitchen utensils, appliances, dishes, tables, coins, and for the production of parts for the automotive and engineering industries.

Kinds

Stainless steel is divided into three large groups:

corrosive;
heat-resistant;
heat-resistant.

Corrosive stainless steel is distinguished by the content of molybdenum and copper in its composition, which allows this material to resist the development of corrosion much longer. The characteristics of such steel can be as follows: when using metal-roll in conditions not subject to heavy loads, the amount of chromium in the alloy can be no more than 5%, and when used under conditions of increased loads – up to 12%. It is used today mainly in mechanical engineering, to a lesser extent this material is used in construction, food and chemical industries.

Heat-resistant stainless steel is characterized by a high degree of heat resistance, i.e. remains resistant to corrosion at high temperatures (more than 550 °C), being in aggressive environments. The main brands are 15X25T, 15X28, 40X10S2M, 20X23H13, 10X23H18, 20X25H20S2.

Heat-resistant stainless steel (heat-resistant) is characterized by good mechanical strength when used at high temperatures. It is used mainly in mechanical engineering, but recently it has also been used in construction, the chemical and food industries, as well as in the electric power industry. So, bearings, valves, combustion chambers, fasteners, parts of compressor units and much more are made from heat-resistant material. The main brands are 12X13, 14X17H2, 20X13, 20X23H18, 12X18H10T (AISI 321), 40X13, 08X13.
