Manganin MNMC 3-12
The thermostable manganin alloy MNMTs 3-12 contains up to 85% copper, from 11.5 to 13.5% manganese and from 2.5 to 3.5% nickel. The share of various impurities accounts for up to 0.9%.
Special Properties
Manganin is well worth the price due to its unique properties. It stands out for its high electrical resistivity and extremely low EMF, not exceeding 1 μV. To reduce the temperature coefficient, the magnetic wire is fired in a vacuum at a temperature of 600 degrees, after which it is slowly cooled. This allows the alloy to maintain the existing electrical characteristics at temperatures up to 200 degrees. At the same time, its melting point is 960 degrees.
In addition, the wire already wound into a spool is subjected to repeated heating, up to 150 degrees , which creates an aging effect that excludes changes in the crystal structure of the alloy.
As a result of these processes, the price for manganin wire is somewhat higher than for analogues. But it also boasts some truly unique properties.
Applications
You can buy Manganin for making shunts, electrical resistances, coils. At the same time, stable electrical resistance allows the alloy to be used in highly precise measuring instruments.
