Stainless Steel 1.4406 / AISI 316LN
General Technical Characteristics
Stainless steel 1.4406 / AISI 316LN is an austenitic corrosion-resistant steel of the chromium–nickel–molybdenum system with reduced carbon content and nitrogen addition. This grade is a modified version of AISI 316 steel and features increased strength, improved corrosion resistance, and structural stability.
Due to the presence of molybdenum, AISI 316LN exhibits high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-containing environments. Nitrogen addition enhances mechanical strength and improves resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Steel 1.4406 maintains its properties during operation in aggressive chemical environments, seawater, and elevated temperatures, making it widely used in industry.
Applications
Stainless steel 1.4406 / AISI 316LN is used in various industrial sectors:
- chemical and petrochemical industry
- marine and offshore engineering
- production of heat exchange equipment
- pipeline systems and tanks
- pharmaceutical industry
- power generation
- food processing equipment
Due to its high reliability, AISI 316LN is widely used for manufacturing critical components and equipment.
