Aluminum alloy AK4-1 / EN AW 2018
Aluminum and its alloys (in particular aluminum alloy AK4-1 / EN AW 2018) are among the most in demand in industry, construction and production of materials. Outwardly, the alloy looks quite “recognizable”: it has a gray or silver tint and a steely sheen.
Pure aluminum is quite rare under normal conditions, since when interacting with oxygen, it is almost instantly covered with an oxide protective film. This feature predetermined the use of aluminum alloys in aggressive environmental conditions, at high and low temperatures and high atmospheric humidity.
High corrosion resistance allows expanding the scope of such alloys: if aluminum was previously used mainly in the aircraft industry, today it is in demand in mechanical engineering, instrument making, shipbuilding, and construction.
High-strength aluminum alloys include components such as:
copper;
chrome;
silicon;
carbon;
manganese;
magnesium;
Molybdenum and so on.
Such a composition of aluminum alloys guarantees the durability and reliability of structures based on them, resistance to all types of corrosion, resistance to wear and aggressive external influences.
