Stainless Steel 1.4037 / AISI 420
General Technical Characteristics
Stainless steel 1.4037 / AISI 420 is a martensitic corrosion-resistant steel with increased carbon content, designed to achieve high hardness and strength after heat treatment. This grade belongs to the AISI 420 family and combines good wear resistance, strength, and satisfactory corrosion resistance.
AISI 420 steel is widely used in mechanical engineering and tool manufacturing due to its ability to achieve high hardness after quenching and tempering. At the same time, stainless steel 1.4037 maintains corrosion resistance in atmospheric conditions as well as in mildly aggressive environments.
The material is well suited for machining in the annealed condition and for heat treatment to achieve the required performance characteristics.
Applications
Stainless steel 1.4037 / AISI 420 is used in various industries:
- production of cutting tools
- knives and blades
- medical instruments
- components for pump and valve equipment
- shafts and axles
- instrument engineering
- wear-resistant machine parts
Due to the combination of strength and hardness, AISI 420 is widely used for manufacturing parts operating under increased loads.
