Hastelloy C-22 / Alloy C – 22 / 2.4602
Nickel alloys from them are distinguished by special properties that make them universal. Hastelloy C-22 is just such a unique austenitic alloy, distinguished by its resistance to crevice and pitting corrosion, as well as to stress corrosion cracking under the influence of high temperatures and pressure.
Special properties of the alloy
The basis of the alloy are nickel, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten. Each metal provides specific material properties. Thus, a high content of chromium contributes to resistance to oxidizing media, while tungsten and molybdenum provide resistance to reducing media.
Resistance to the formation of grain-boundary deposits on welds is also noted.
Hastelloy C-22 can be used in technological processes at temperatures not exceeding 670 degrees. Higher temperatures promote the formation of harmful phases.
Applications
Hastelloy’s quite affordable price and its unique properties make it highly demanded in pharmaceuticals, production of cellophane and fertilizers, equipment for the chemical industry, treatment facilities and nuclear waste processing.
