Rational limits should be established for the use of various welding methods in structures; pay special attention to the development of resistance welding; expand the use of alloyed steels in structures; revise design methods, taking into account the requirements of welding technology and the dynamic effect of loads on welded joints; to rework and finalize a number of GOSTs and specifications for the design and manufacture of welded structures in various sectors of the national economy, to develop the use of gas cutting.
Welding of building structures
The use of welded structures in industrial facilities in the coming years should increase to at least 80%. In this case, the use of low-alloy steels for building welded structures should be taken into account.
In addition to those areas in which welded structures were used earlier, they should find distribution:
a) In the manufacture of all kinds of welded beams of an I-section, tee, channel, etc., in order to replace rolled products; beams must be produced by automatic welding.
b) In all kinds of building details, as well as elements manufactured industrially in large-scale and mass production (girders, light trusses, etc.). In these products, it is advisable to use stamped elements in combination with flash butt and spot welding.
c) In the designs of blast furnaces. In connection with the transition to welded structures of mine bodies, it is necessary to develop rational types of the latter and technological processes for their manufacture by hand. The high quality of work of a welded cylindrical thick-walled structure, welded in a vertical position at low temperature, should be ensured.
