Product dimensions

The parameters of almost all products are set based on the nominal dimensions of the product. At the same time, their production is based on the standardization of O.D. (outer diameter) selected so that, for example, an ACME pipe having a standard diameter and wall thickness has an I.D. (inner diameter) approximately equal to the nominal size.
At the same time, in the absence of an exact correspondence of the nominal size to the existing standard thickness, standard diameters and nominal sizes continue to act as a single “standard”.
Permissible dimensional deviations depend on the manufacturing technology of the product and must be indicated in its specification.

Wall thickness

When determining the wall thickness that an ASME / ASTM / API pipe should have, when designing pipelines and products from it, it is determined by the conditions of the forthcoming operation. First of all, this refers to the ability to work in conditions of high internal pressure, which is prescribed by existing standards.
